Why You Will Not Lose Body Fat With Fad Diets

The one thing that you can say for definite is that fad diets are not going to help you lose body fat. However this does not stop people from constantly going down the same route. A reason this occurs is because of the clever advertisments behind these types of diets.

The people behind these products are more than aware of how desperatly people want to reach their weight loss goals. A lot of people will turn to anything to lose weight. Fad diets at best are temporary methods, and are not geared towards offering you the best way to lose fat in the long term.

In the United States, nearly a hundred million people each year, go on some sort of diet program which they hope will help them towards losing weight. The sad truth is that 95% of these people fail to keep the weight that they may have lost, from returning. To make matters worse, around 30% of these people will end up gaining more weight than they had initially lost. These people believe all the hype which is delivered through clever marketing tactics surrounding fad diets.

On the whole, people want to reduce fat so that they can feel better and look good. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this idea, I mean, we all want to feel good. However the all round improvements to your health are a more important issue regarding weight loss. Obesity is calculated to be responsible for almost 450,000 deaths each year. Obesity increases people’s chances of being struck down with some horrible illnesses like diabetes, heart problems, and high blood pressure. Many of these diseases have no cure and are something that you will have to live with.

Setting realistic goals is the key to losing body fat in the long term. Forget all the fad diets that tell you that you can lose 15-30 pounds a month. This is not healthy or realistic. If you think that one of these sorts of diets are going to get you what you want, then you are mistaken.

The best way to lose fat is to approach it in a realistic and sustainable way. Instead of trying to hit 1 large goal, break it up into many smaller goals. Once you pass 1 goal, start on the next one, and continue in this fashion repeatedly. If you lose a large amount of weight quickly, your body goes into defence mode. The human body is engineered in such a fashion, that lasting change only comes slowly. Try to go against the grain and your body will go in the opposite direction.

Weight loss in small stages is your body’s preference. Not only will it accept this without complaining, the results will be last a great deal longer. Think of fat loss or weight loss as being more of a walk than a sprint. Nobody who is overweight, become so in a matter of a couple of months, and expecting to lose that weight in a couple of months is not only unrealistic, it just is not possible, especially if you want your weight loss results to last.
