Metabolism Boosters

The method by which your body tranfers food into energy is metabolism. Calories — from carbohydrates, fats and proteins — are joined with oxygen to release the energy your body needs to function, during this complex biochemical process.
In other words, Metabolism converts food calories to energy needed to perform various tasks like exercise. Effecting your metabolism are many variables including heredity, gender, and age. Mostly because of a gradual decrease in activity and resulting loss of muscle, as you age, your body becomes less effective at burning calories. Your metabolism can dip as much as 25 to 30 percent over your adult life.
There are many tips for boosting your metabolism – some of the basics include:
- Exercise more. You raise your metabolism when you increase the energy required of your body, when you walk, run, or lift weights,. Regular aerobic exercise, such as walking daily for 30 minutes or more, is an excellent way to burn calories. You can boost metabolism up to 10% after a training program, when you work out with weights. During weight training, muscle tissue is stressed; afterward, its repaired which raises metabolism
2. Eat Breakfast. Your metabolism won’t go into “starvation mode” without breakfast, but it is associated with highly successful weight loss. Consume a protein based diet. Protein also helps control your appetite with longer lasting satiety and that’s where the real benefit comes in – it helps you prevent overeating.
- Practice portion control. This helps make sure you don’t overwork your metabolism with a surplus of unusable energy (that is, food).
- Better to eat smaller meals more often. Known as grazing. “Grazing helps normalize blood sugar levels rather than producing three large spikes, which is what happens eating three meals a day,”
- Laugh. When researchers from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, found that when people were shown funny videos, the subjects’ metabolic rates rose by 10 to 40 calories.
However, since many of us busy people don’t always have the time to do all the above there are some terrific products on the market that help boost metabolism.
