3 reasons why some people lose weight faster than others

This vexed question has been on my lips for 30 years. It seems so unfair that some people seems to shed their excess weight easily while I really struggle.
This is why I chose to go on a very low calorie diet. I wanted to lose the weight very fast and get it over with. Having been with a group of other guys at the weekly weigh in I have picked up a few tips as to why some people lose weight fast and others don’t

1. It depends how heavy you are to start with

At the risk of stating the obvious, If you are 10 stones overweight you are going to lose weight faster than someone who is only 2 stones overweight. So think about where you are now and do not expect to be the same as someone who is starting from a different place.

2. It depends on whether the diet suits you.

Some diets work for you and some don’t. I took 30 years and then found one I could get on with. You need to think about your relationship with food. For example could you survive and maintain willpower on a diet of special food replacement packs? Or could you limit you food intake to 10 allowed food items? Finding the right diet for you is worth spending time on before you start.

3. It depends on how closely you follow the program.

Some of the guys in my group did not cheat or waver from the program in anyway. They were the ones who lost the most weight. Those who did allow themselves little treats ended up giving up the diet or only losing weight slowly. All the diets mentioned on this website work. The evidence of successful people on each diet is impossible to deny. The people who say it doesn’t work are only fooling themselves. I have listened to people say they can’t lose weight and at the same time talk about how they didn’t stick to the diet. (Quietly gets down off soapbox).

    The reason why some people naturally lose weight while others struggle is due to genetics. Chromosomes in the body largely determine the combustion and fat burning levels which work differently with individuals. Its just that some people are luckier than others.

    Both my wife and myself work out daily Monday thru Friday. One day is cardio on an eliptiser and the other is on a bowflex. We don’t over eat but can not seem to get smaller. We both would be very happy to see 20 or 30 lbs go away but do not see any result. Are we working to susstain our weight? Is the body type an issue? Is there medical help we should persue? any advice would be helpful
