How Fast Do You Lose Weight In Ketosis

How fast do you lose weight in Ketosis is dependant on life style and diet.  To appreciate this, we need to understand the purpose of ketosis.

Ketosis is short for Ketosis/lyptolysis. It is the name given to the method our bodies use to dissolve fat.  We take in food and our bodies use our digestive system to break it down into useful forms of fuel, what ever our bodies don’t need or can’t use is lost as waste or stored in fat cells.

When we need to use energy, our bodies break down the fat into glycerol and free fatty acids which is then broken down into ketone bodies which is then used as fuel. It is when our body is in ketosis that we are actually using using our stored fat to convert to energy. Therefore the more ketones released, the more fat we are using and losing from our bodies.  It is the way we enable our bodies to do this that will determine how fast we lose weight in ketosis.

It is not unusual to lose a lot of weight in a short time using this process but success and speed depends on method, counselled support and medical supervision.  Indeed most Diet groups like Atkins, Weightwatchers, Lighter Life, etc., insist on having participants checked out by their doctors so that each participant can be monitored safely. At the end of the day we want to lose weight but we don’t want bad health complications.

To use ketosis in ourt weight loss programmes we need to be active and use our muscles. This is because 1lb of muscle uses 50 calories a day so obviously the more we participate in regular excercise the more energy our bodies are required to produce.  Strength and resistance training are particularly good at increasing the amount of muscles we have to keep up a steady demand of fuel from our fat stores. Aerobic activities like swimming and fast walking also help to tone these muscles and burn fat too.

Indeed the more you aid the body’s abilities in ketosis, the faster you lose the undesired weight.

While the body is producing ketones you lose weight. To lose weight fast it is important to eat unprocessed foods like salad, raw carrot, low fat proteins like chicken and fish.  It is also good to reduce or even eliminate salt and replace it with various fresh herbs and spices. Infact chilli is known to aid the metabolism and even drinking green tea helps to cleanse the body and reduce toxins. Saunas with their hot and cold processes are also known to help stimulate the metabolism.

Wigh regard to how fast do you lose weight in ketosis it really is dependant on how focused you are on keeping the body in the ketone zone.
