You need a team to help you lose weight.

Losing weight is not easy. No matter whether it is a few pounds or a few stone or even 10, 20, or 30 stones. We all know it is costly. Sometimes the target seems too small or too large and it defeats us. However what we all need to remember is that we all need help. Few of us ever put weight on as hermits so why should we expect to lose weight as hermits.

The safest, easiest and most likely to succeed method of dieting is to do it as a team event.

1. The doctor

The most important thing is to acknowledge that we need to lose weight and to be open about it.  First point of call should be a doctor as he or she can check that we have no underlying problems that might prevent us losing weight.

2. The planner

The next thing to do is to decide what method we are going to use to lose weight and what available time we have to achieve our goal. If we use a recognised group like Lighter Life or Weight Watchers, they come with a counsellor. Failing that we need to appoint a mentor or diet coach to help us in our plans.

3. The trainer

Next is Exercise. In this instance a personal trainer or your local gym can provide a program that suits the diet and your lifestyle.

4. The cheerleader

There are two other groups that are essential. These are our family and friends. They can make or break our efforts, so it is really important to get them on board and to share your weight problems with them. They will be anxious that you are doing the right thing so, having a professional like a doctor and diet counsellor available, plus a time span, can make a huge impact.

The immediate impact of this is that you suddenly feel surounded by support – you are no longer alone.  No more do you have to shoulder this burden. You have a team of expert advice and wonderful support that will see you through this difficult time.  Everyone will want to share in your success, everyone will want to own the results.  Friends won’t unwittingly cause you to stumble by offering you things you have given up for a period of time. Some might even invite you to join them for a swim or walk, etc. The team event can lead to all manner of positive results, but the best thing of all is that it will help you to lose weight and feel much better about yourself.
