Nobody seems to be able to agree on a single way to lose weight fast. Crash dieting is the preferred method for a few. Others refuse to touch carbohydrates. Meanwhile, some people just starve themselves in an effort to lose as much weight as possible.

Weight loss can and will take place with the above methods. In reality, you will not lose much of the weight that counts. Most of the weight lost through these methods is merely water weight, which comes back very easily. The weight loss is as permanent as your diet is, since returning to your regular eating habits will bring back every pound that you tried to lose.

Remember that ‘abusive’ dieting has consequences. Removing certain foods for their perceived adverse nutritional effects will only cause your body to search for its nutrients elsewhere. Your body will simply reduce its resource needs to keep itself going during your diet. This is not a good thing, despite what you might think. During your diet, your body will have been incredibly overworked, which can end up causing you to live a year or two less than you would have. To rub salt in your wounds, returning to your regular eating habits after your body has adjusted to the reduced calorie intake will result in your weight bouncing back to pre-diet levels.

In simple terms, ‘abusive’ dieting is only good for temporary weight loss. In this case, you’d be better off not dieting at all!.

Despite how it seems, it’s very possible to lose weight permanently. All you need to do is find out how to do it properly. ‘Properly’ does not consist of starvation or trimming carbs/calories/fat/etc. You should be aiming to lose weight quickly, but stay healthy at the same time.

Avoid falling into the same mistake that snares most other dieters: losing weight much too quickly. Weight loss is a drastic change for your body to handle. Because your goal is to obtain healthy weight loss, the idea is to not shock your body by forcing it to undergo massive changes. Give your body time to accept the changes that are happening. This will avoid the possibility of various health issues that you definitely don’t want to deal with.

Let’s start by examining your eating patterns. When and how much do you eat? Are you staying hydrated? Take into consideration even minute things like whether you chew your food thoroughly before you swallow. Things you may not even have considered can change your digestion pattern, which is directly related to why you’re overweight.

Your body always tries to use as many calories as it receives per day. This is a self-preservation mechanism found in every living beings (including people!), which is why you won’t drop dead instantly if you don’t eat enough. Starvation-type diets will always fail due to this. You fight with your body if you try to lose weight by starving yourself. Your body’s answer to starvation is to hoard reserves. Result: you’ll get fat, whether it happens now or later. If you fight with your body, you will lose 10 times out of 10.

You don’t need to make your own body into your enemy. Instead, you can work with it and use another natural reaction. Every time you eat, your body goes into a special ‘digestive state’. You’ll know when this happens – it’s the unique feeling of contentment and slight drowsiness after filling yourself up. This is when your body gets to work by releasing chemicals which digest the food you just ate.

This is what needs to happen if you want to lose weight. As ironic as it sounds, you’ll need to eat more frequently if you want your body to release these digestive chemicals. By eating at planned intervals, you can create a pattern where your body will release these hormones. Do it correctly, and you can convince your body to deplete its reserves – i.e. your belly fat, thighs, love handles, etc.

This is known as ‘calorie shifting’. Calorie shifting is a basic yet essential part of weight loss. With this method, instead of going up against your own body you work with it. This is why calorie shifting will work where other diets will inevitably fail. The best part of it is that you don’t need to spend all day exercising until you drop.
