Diet Patches Don’t Equal Long Term Weight Loss

By Kenj | September 15, 2009

Most everyone wants to lose fat these days but using diet patches isn’t the way to do it.

Lack of energy or health conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure can force an otherwise complacent person to seek weight loss solutions. Some want to look great on their wedding day or in a brand new dress.  Some people want to be around to see their grandchildren grow up.  Whatever the reason, the only way to lose weight and keep it off is through diet and exercise.

You can’t walk down the aisle of your neighborhood pharmacy without seeing a huge selection of pills, patches, and creams, all promising instant results. The problem with these weight loss products is that they just do not work.Even worse, in some cases, herbal based weight loss remedies can actually be dangerous to some consumers.

Just because a product is an herb based supplement doesn’t mean that it is safe, or that it will work effectively.Herbs and herbal preparations are not always beneficial, and some actually pose a health risk.Just like you wouldn’t eat strange plants or berries you find in your yard, you shouldn’t assume something is safe simply because it is advertised as “natural”?

The false and misleading claims made by some herbal products have lead to an increase in Food and Drug Administration involvement.  Clinical trials do not prove that herbal concoctions will help you lose fat, increase your metabolism or make the pounds melt away.Much more clinical testing is needed to determine the safety and effectiveness of these products, and the items in question should be pulled from the shelves until there is a conclusive finding.

So if you shouldn’t be using diet patches, how should you lose weight?

The good old fashioned way is right way.  Exercise and eating right will help the weight come off.  It may be slow at first, but after four weeks, there should be a noticeable difference if you stick to a routine. The exercise you choose for your plan doesn’t need to be extreme. You can get great benefits from simply walking five to seven times a week for about 30 minutes at a time.Try not to make excuses to get out of your daily workout.Try walking on your lunch break or in the morning.  Having an exercise routine will naturally suppress your appetite and give you a feeling of energy for the day.

Also, walking is free!If you are buying those pricey diet patches you really are wasting your money because they are unhealthy and unproven.Spend the money you save on supplements on a great new pair of walking shoes. After you have completed a full month of your new program, treat yourself to something special, like new clothes in a smaller size.If you haven’t seen visible results yet, don’t despair.  Even if the weight doesn’t come off quickly, you know you are doing something great for your heart, instead of harming it with dangerous diet patches!
