Times Article - Is cancer linked to obesity?

The times carried an article yesterday linking cancer with obesity. I won’t copy it as that is not allowed but the gist of it was that there is a link between how much salt eaten and stomach cancer. This is because eating salty foods makes people drink more and more high calorie fizzy drinks.
The whole piece looked at hidden salt content in foods and the fact that it is very hard to know what is in foods that can harm you. It focussed on children’s health but it is the same for adults.

Not knowing what is in our foods is a major issue when you are trying to overcome obesity. If you are going to tackle your own problem of obesity you will need to become an expert of good foods and bad foods. Shopping becomes a scientific field trip. Reading labels, making mental notes, checking salt content, sugar content, fat content and so on.

Having succesfully overcome my own obesity problem in the last year I know what a huge learning curve this is. When I eat out I am analysing the menu to find the most nutritional meal on offer. I do not even consider certain dishes that I know are unhealthy. Now I will never become a nutritionist but I am the best amateur one I know and this will have to do for me.
No longer being obese is such a huge positive change that I never want to go back to eating mindlessly without considering the long term effects on my health
